Suicide stories
A man attempted suicide multiple times
A man attempted suicide multiple times. He received treatment in a private hospital. Despite the fact that the individual had previously left suicide notes, the hospital repeatedly let him depart. The man's relatives expressed concerns about his placement under supervision and lack of regulation by the Mental Health Act. The patient successfully committed suicide after leaving the hospital to go jogging. Investigations revealed the man was providing his wife contradictory advice while signing a contract with the hospital promising not to harm himself. He appeared to be planning to commit himself, but based on his actions while at the hospital, nothing else was suggested. He was being approached in an effort to establish a therapeutic alliance.
There was a communication breakdown between his wife and the hospital.
What I Think About Antidepressants
The number of suicides and attempted suicides is increasing as more antidepressant prescriptions are prescribed. My doctor, who was aware of my history and that I had never had depression or any other mental disease, gave me a prescription for Lexapro. I was 64 . I wanted something to soothe my anxiety after hearing some worrying news. From that point forward, the struggle was downward. I was directed to a psychiatrist who kept giving me antidepressants, which seemed to make me feel more unsteady. Even after three visits to the local hospital's emergency room, I was told to keep taking the drug because it had only been six months. There was no monitoring while I was taking the medicine, and I was never informed of the potential suicide implications. After realizing that my trembling might be related to my medicine, I stopped taking it. After recuperating from the overdose, which I don't remember taking, I made an attempt on my life three days later. I was then sent to a mental facility where I was constantly given new medications. Four years later, my physical health is still not great. I don't take any medication anymore. My shakiness also disappeared as soon as I stopped taking the antidepressants. Please promote greater study on this topic and better training for mental health professionals so they can warn patients about side effects and determine when an antidepressant is necessary. I appreciate your time.
